Christianne Dettmann
Come one, come all to the SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club’s Quilt Sale on Tuesday, Oct. 28, and Wednesday, Oct. 29! From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days, the Sunny Side Up Café at 15800 N. Oracle Road (just a few minutes south of SaddleBrooke) will graciously host this long-awaited event in a dedicated side room directly off its main dining space. From baby blankets to bedspreads, you’ll find a variety of quilted treasures just in time for the upcoming holiday season! Further, it’s the perfect opportunity to support our generous room host by enjoying a hearty breakfast or lunch while at the café.
The “quilts of love” in this one-of-a-kind collection were lovingly created by Sunrise Rotary Club member Dave Dettmann and his late wife, Grace. Past articles published earlier this summer and late last fall describe the quilts’ history in more detail. Further, several other stitched sundries made by Grace and by other club members will be offered at prices sure to please a plethora of pocketbooks. All proceeds will benefit both the Mammoth-San Manuel Unified School District and the Arizona Families F.I.R.S.T. (Families In Recovery Succeeding Together) program. Dave and his daughter, Christianne, will be there both days to answer any questions about the items being sold. (Cash, check, and credit accepted. All sales final.)
To preview examples of Dave and Grace’s handiwork, visit the two patient rooms at the Desert Life Pharmacy in SaddleBrooke; one hangs on the wall of each room. While those two particular quilts are not for sale, the collection contains several others that are similar … plus many more!
SaddleBrooke is fortunate to have two rotary clubs, each with particular priorities. The SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club focuses primarily on hands-on service projects that directly benefit the communities in which we live. The club meets at 7:45 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays of every month in the Mesa Room of the La Hacienda Clubhouse at SaddleBrooke Ranch. We are always seeking to add others with similar service-oriented mindsets, so if that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you at saddlebrookesunriserotary@gmail.com.
