It’s August. It’s hot. It’s hotter. It’s more than hot. So what’s a neighborhood to do?
Have a COOL party with a POOL. So it went for Unit 16C’s August get–together.
Brenda Wright was our hostess with the mostess with lots of help from Toni Graves.
Brenda has a pool. Enough said. In keeping with the temperature, the dinner menu was everything COLD. Brenda and Toni cooked up shredded chicken and pork using slow cookers so no heat from ovens was a blessing. Between ceiling fans and a 70–degree setting on the AC, we had the perfect temp for a hot August night party. We all sat outside for dinner on Brenda’s patio with ceiling fans set on high. Toni, who brought all the ingredients for frozen margaritas (including the fastest blender in the world) made brain–freezing drinks. Even short lived headaches did not deter us from imbibing. Even desserts were cold. Peach pie with ice cream and the Best in the World chocolate cake with ice cream hit the mark for summer treats. After dinner the piece de resistance was sitting poolside with feet and legs dangling in the cool water and finishing our drinks (plastic glasses, of course.) It was the civilized way to celebrate the end of summer.
Only bad note was the heat and summer didn’t end, although we tried!
