Hearts and Flowers

Joy Hellard

Love was in the air on Saturday, Feb. 12. The activity committee for Unit 16B sold 100 pink and red Valentine’s Day roses to raise money for the unit’s 2022 activities. Each long-stemmed rose included a custom-made bow, Valentine card, and a raffle ticket making the residents eligible for two cash drawings. Maria Astaire and Marge and Jim Rodgers volunteered their driveways and garages for the “Hearts and Flowers” event and manned the tables from 2 to 4 p.m. The raffle drawings were held at the 16B Chili Cook-Off, which took place the following week on Feb. 18. The lucky winners were Bruce MacIver, who won $100, and Chuck and Sue Eggleston, who won $75. It was a successful event and provided 16B residents the opportunity to purchase Valentine’s roses for their friends, family members, and spouses without leaving the Ranch.
