On March 21 the Sol Ballroom was packed with members of the Wine Club partying like a ‘20s tycoon for a celebration of the Roaring ‘20s. Members enjoyed specially selected wines to enjoy with their delicious four-course dinner. At the beginning of the event two Prohibition era cocktails were available. Members enjoyed either a “Bee’s Knees” or a “Sidecar” before the dinner started.
The wines and food pairing menu included:
Appetizers: Oysters Rockefeller or mushrooms Rockefeller
Pairing: Laetitia Brut Rose
Salad: Waldorf salad
Pairing: Maddalena Pinot Grigio, Monterey
Entrees: Lobster Newburg or steak Diane or vegetables terrine
Pairing: San Simeon Viognier, Paso Robles
Dessert: Apricot tartlet
Pairing: Maddalena Riesling, Monterey
Many thanks to Dave Muck, Jill Stark, Cyndy Pylkka, Dave Moretto, and Nancy Eisenstein who directed the coordination of this event. The club’s next events are a wine tasting bus trip to Sonoita/Elgin on May 7 and a wine mixer on May 16.
