SBRWGA Takes Third Place in CWGA Competition

Carol Mihal

Fifteen ladies from the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) participated in the 2020-21 City Women’s Golf Association’s (CWGA) Golf Tracks season competition in the Tucson area.

The CWGA group, originally formed in 1951, organized five tournaments this year at various golf courses in and around Tucson. This multi-tournament event provides cross-city golf competition with individual stroke play, using the Stableford scoring system. Individual golfers, as well as golf course teams, are recognized at the end of the season with winnings.

For the 2020-21 season, there were 186 women (comprising 15 separate teams) who participated in the CWGA Golf Tracks competition. It was an unusual season with COVID-19 restrictions requiring separate golf carts for the participants and the need for social distancing.

After all the scoring was tallied, the SaddleBrooke Ranch Team earned third place gross against stiff competition from all the other golf clubs. Congratulations to the SaddleBrooke Ranch Team, which gathered to celebrate with a pizza party paid for by their team winnings!
