SBR Health & Wellness Fair Committee
“I learned so much at the health fair. The exhibitors had valuable information to share.” “What a great event. Thank the committee of volunteers that made this possible.” These are just a few of the comments made by several residents attending this year. Exhibitors told us SBR Health Fair was the best organized they attended all year.
The Ranch House Sol ballroom was buzzing with over 450 residents attending the SBR Health and Wellness Fair on March 28. With 48 exhibitors in various medical and wellness offerings, there were many pleased residents as they left the fair.
As the Platinum sponsor, Desert Life Pharmacy invited students from the University of Arizona Pharmacy School to assist in providing blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, and medication reviews. The team of 17 students hosted education booths and information on Operation Immunization, Smoking Cessation, Depression Awareness, Over the Counter Med Safety, and Operation Heart were provided by pharmacy students with other handouts.
Arizona Diagnostic Pathology group joined Desert Life Pharmacy, explaining the various labs they can perform at the pharmacy every Friday.
The fair hosted four Gold Sponsors: Pain Institute of Southern Arizona, Desert Dermatology, Oracle Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and Right at Home Senior Care. Their tables were filled with residents wanting to learn more about the services provided by their groups.
Our Silver Sponsors were AAA of Arizona, Blue Lemon Therapy, Chiropractic USA, Empty Cup Wellness, Invitus Wellness, Oro Valley Medicine, Splendido, and TMC Hospice at Home and Peppi’s House.
The other exhibitors included A Senior Journey, Bayada In Home Care, Duke Nutrition Experts, Encompass Rehabilitation, Senior Support Alliance, Red Light Therapy, Origin Orthopedics, Sanova Medical and Urgent Care, Center for Neuroscience, Mountainside Health and Aesthetics, Casa de la Luz, Compassion and Choices, Inner Zen Wellness, Juice Plus, Lymph Studio, Patch Provider, Proactive Physical Therapy, “Breathe Just Breathe” book author, Reddy Heart Institute, Sonoran Foot and Ankle Institute, Sun Life Medical Center, Synergy Wellness, and TMC Health Cancer Center.
Denise Morgan provided 20–minute massages for the attendees.
Golder Ranch Fire District provided literature on staying safe along with pens, medication magnets, and fire hats, if they fit your head.
Pinal County Public Health and Office of Emergency Management were available for information on how to sign up for PENS (Pinal Emergency Notification System).
We live in such a wonderful community with local groups providing assistance when needed. The SBR Pet Care Givers, Creative Giving of SBR, SBR Neighbors Helping Neighbors, SBR Red Cross Blood Drive information, SBR Cancer Support group, SBR Friends of Bill AA Support, and SBR Fitness Center Teams are all helpful organizations.
The fair committee secured over 50 giveaways for those that entered to win.
A major shout-out to all the many volunteers that made this event a success. It would not be possible to host such a successful event without all their help. Thank you so much!
