Having arrived at SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) after working, raising kids, or taking care of parents, many of us have come looking to interact and find a sense of belonging and mutual support. We may have had little time for art or creativity, but are now ready to use our minds differently. We’re looking for more creative outlets and opportunities to expand our imaginations and skills while building new friendships.
The Glasshoppers studio provides a working space for people from all walks of life to come together in a safe, creative environment to make art—sometimes separately, and sometimes together, but always in a supportive manner. And glass (although a medium that you may never have considered working with) offers the expression of unique viewpoints—sometimes traditional, sometimes modern or eclectic. There are big and small pieces, decorative and functional pieces.
Skills once utilized on the job can be reimagined and used to develop artistic points of view. A retired air traffic controller pieces glass together into interesting patterns based on mathematics and geometric shapes. Another artist who worked with fabrics and knitting begins to pull colors together in glass—as one of her new superpowers! Everyone becomes better with the synergy in the studio and expands both their skills and creative ideas by watching others work and learning along with them.
Join this amazing group of people who started out knowing nothing about glass and who have become artists with shared interests, identity, and purpose. Contact membership chairman at cafferty_j@msn.com today. We’d love to grow artistically, together with you!
