Voices in the Oaks singers enjoy the outdoors at the Ranch!

The Voices in the Oaks (VIO) Chorale fall season is in full swing and we are proud to announce our fall concert program, Our Natural World. Voices in the Oaks began rehearsals on Aug. 20 at Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church and will rehearse weekly for 12 weeks to bring you this exciting and diverse program in November.
Inspired by Artistic Director Omaris Torres Frey’s summer travels through the forests, mountains, and coastlines of Washington and Maine, this program celebrates nature through an inspiring blend of contemporary, classical, and lighthearted music. Included are the 1967 pop hit, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell and “The Pasture” by Marianne Forman based on the poem by Robert Frost. Also featured are rhythmic folk songs such as “Cuando la cumbia trae lluvia,” driven by a steady, infectious percussion beat, it celebrates the Latin American raindance and the renewal rain brings after a long drought.
Mark your calendars for our fall concerts. Our SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) concert will be Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. in the Sol Ballroom and we will also perform on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. at Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church. Our SBR holiday concert will be in the Sol Ballroom at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. We can’t wait to see you there! We also announce our Chamber Voices small ensemble group. Selected by audition, this 10 to 12 person subgroup of VIO singers will once again perform during our fall concert and be available to sing for various community events. Our Chamber Voices performed at Music on the Trail this spring at Oracle State Park on a lovely, sunshiny afternoon to an enthusiastic audience. It was a beautiful day for all in attendance.
