The Catalina Cup is a club competition that runs from October through April. The season was made up of nine matches played at various courses in the Tucson area. Barb Simms and Jean Cheszek co-captained the team from SaddleBrooke Ranch.

On April 4, the SaddleBrooke Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) hosted the Catalina Cup for women’s golf teams from several local clubs. The following teams played: El Conquistador, The Gallery, The Highlands, La Paloma, Mt. View/Preserve, SaddleBrooke, Skyline, Tucson National, and The Views.

The host club does not compete. Instead, they provide assistance to make sure that the event runs smoothly. That included getting the players checked in and escorted to their starting holes. Another important job was as “spotters.” These volunteers from the SBRWGA were on duty on holes 10, 11, and 13. They were there to help find any balls that might have found their way into the arroyos. The spotters had a fun time.
