SBR Pickleball general membership meeting highlights

The Sol Ballroom was packed with a quorum of SaddleBrooke Ranch pickleballers to listen and learn about the status of the club, new policies and general information for the membership.

Ron Green, president of the SaddleBrooke Ranch Pickleball Association (SBRPA), started by emphasizing the goals for 2019. These include skills and development trainings, social and competitive events, transparent communication and website redesign.

The topics ranged from an update on the financial status, membership numbers, upcoming social and competitive events, ratings and testing policy changes, court scheduling updates and website organization.

The club is in strong financial condition with donations from several sponsors. The club boasts 343 active members, the largest club at the ranch. Membership ranges from 2.0 to 5.0 skill levels, and the majority of club players (95) are rated at the 3.0 skill level.

Several social and competitive events are slated for the remainder of the year:

Aug. 19: Dinner at Guadalajara Grill restaurant (no pickleball)

Sept. 18: Pickles and burgers social

Oct. 10: Annual dinner and dance

Oct. 29: Quail Creek vs. SBR competitive event

A new ratings assignments and testing advancement policy that became effective July 1 was announced. Full details about this new policy is on the website, www.sbrpickleball.club.
